Common Questions
Everything you need to know about our Lithuanian folk dance courses in Klaipėda
Not at all. Our Foundational Steps for Beginners course is designed specifically for people with little or no dance background. We start with the absolute basics—foot positions, weight transfer, and posture—so everyone learns at their own pace.
We keep our groups small and personal, usually between 6 and 12 people per class. This gives you plenty of space to move, and our instructors can give you individual attention and feedback on your technique.
Most people feel comfortable with the core Lithuanian steps—šokis, bėgimas, and šuolis—after 4 to 6 weeks of regular classes. Of course, it depends on how often you attend and how much you practice, but you'll start seeing progress right away.
This course is for dancers who've already learned the basic steps and want to understand how to move with the music. We cover Lithuanian folk music structure, regional rhythm variations specific to Klaipėda traditions, and how to feel and respond to accents and syncopation in the music.
Yes. Once you've completed the Foundational Steps course, you're ready to move into Rhythm Interpretation whenever you feel confident. Many of our students eventually take both courses—they work together to give you a complete picture of traditional Lithuanian folk dance.
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that let you move freely—joggers, leggings, or dance pants work well. Soft shoes or clean sneakers are best; avoid shoes with very slippery soles. You don't need special folk dance costumes for regular classes.
